Your Texas Music is dedicated to Texas music of any stripe — from gospel, classical, jazz, country, and hip-hop, to blues, bluegrass, rock, Americana, and folk — you name it.

We're fans of struggling, undiscovered artists, working and paying their dues. We're also fans of people who have paid their dues, but for one reason or another have never gained admission to major label stardom.

Your Texas Music is the place to go for tickets to shows by Texas artists, Texas music CDs on independent labels, Texas music downloads, and art by Texas artists.

Why do you charge a service fee on tickets?

When we charge this fee, the entire face value of the ticket goes to the artist and/or venue. If we didn't charge a fee, the cost of selling tickets would have to be deducted from the face value before paying the artist/venue. Some venues have recently announced they would no longer be charging extra fees, but they just raised the ticket price to cover the fees. We believe that this results in "hidden" charges. In the spirit of full disclosure, we think that letting our customers know that they are paying the fee is more straightforward.

So what does the service charge cover? Well, it varies with the venue and what services we perform for them. Here is a partial list:

  • The cost for credit card processing — a per transaction fee plus a percentage of the total order (including taxes and fees)
  • The cost of printing the tickets (when using printed tickets)
  • The cost of mailing tickets (if mailed) — postage, printing envelopes, etc.
  • The cost of shipping tickets to the venue (when using printed tickets)
  • The cost of will call — organizing the tickets, putting them in envelopes, sorting them, checking emails against the ticket list, etc.
  • The cost of providing personnel to cover the gate — someone to take money, credit cards, and pass out will call tickets
  • Providing personnel to take phone orders and answer questions
  • A small profit for the ticket vendor — a very small profit

We hope this answers your questions about service fees. If you still have any questions or comments, please email us.
